The School of Computing and Information Technologies – Computer Science held its first Thesis 2 Industry Expert Consultation Session last Saturday, September 13, 2025. This session was designed to engage seasoned professionals in a critical review of student research outputs, ensuring their relevance, accuracy, and alignment with current industry standards.
The invited expert, Ms. Anabelle Ibuyan, represents a multinational company and brings 18 years of experience in IT and information security. She currently serves as a Security Delivery Associate Manager and Governance, Risk, and Compliance Lead Assessor. Ms. Ibuyan is a highly credentialed cybersecurity and privacy professional, holding certifications in CISA, CompTIA Security+, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Lead Auditor, ISO/IEC 27701:2019 Internal Auditor, and Information Privacy Manager. Her extensive training and certifications reflect deep expertise in information systems auditing, security frameworks, and global data privacy standards.
During the session, Ms. Ibuyan shared insights on AI security, including the risks associated with AI systems, the importance and scope of AI security, and the challenges and potential solutions in the field. She also provided a meticulous review of the completed research papers of Thesis 2 students for Term 1, Academic Year 2025–2026, highlighting key issues such as AI hallucination, scalability, and the sustainability of research outputs. Additionally, a member from each team was given time to ask questions to the industry expert.
